Get your free credit eprtros. If you really want to save money, get your report from just one credit agency. Then 3 months from now, get another one from the next agency, then 3 months after that get the last one. This will help you to monitor your credit for cheaper. Another thing you can do is to try their free 30 day trial to monitor your credit online. It's pretty cool. Secured cards are ok, but I wouldn't suggest it if you don't want to pay a fee. If you already have credit cards, try to consolidate the balances on them. The most important thing is to pay your bill on time!! I can't stress that enough. That is what brings your score up. Time will help too. You want to try to bring your credit cards to where the balance is below half of your credit amount on your card. When your balance goes over half, it indicates to credit companies that you rely on the credit and it reflects poorly on you. If you work on those things your credit score will begin to rebound. If you have to miss payments, make sure they are to things that don't report it to the credit agencies, like cell phone companies, that's about it that I can think of. If you need a company to give you extra time to pay, or better yet, if you need to skip a payment, or defer the payment for a while, they usually will let you if you give them a reason. They will tack the interest on to the end, but if you want to increase your credit, this is worthwhile. I hope this helps. Good luck
